GOLDFISH

Swimmers build on the swim technique fundamentals they have learned through their learning in the water. The Goldfish level is typically where most swimmers spend most of their time in swim lessons. Confidence, technique, and muscle memory create the perfect storm + stroke swimming starts to click!

Is This Level Right For My Swimmer?

This level may be a great fit if your swimmer:

✓ Has "almost got it"

✓ Can navigate shallow water with confidence

✓ Is interested in, but not yet confident in the deep end

✓ Is mastering essential swim skills like front crawl, float, and sustaining powerful kicks

Goldfish are:
  • 4y+

  • beginner swimmers who are comfortable in + around water

  • willing to go under + blow nose bubbles

Goldfish learn in private, semi-private + groups lesson formats. Groups are capped at 4 swimmers : 1 instructor (with an extra instructor/helper as needed).

GOLDFISH

1

This level is designed for swimmers who are just gaining independence in the water (they are comfortable in the water but not yet able to support an independent swim for more than a few seconds).

Goldfish 1s are...

  • Able to participate in lessons independently and follow instruction from a swim instructor.

  • Comfortable fully submerging 1-2 seconds and familiar with blowing nose bubbles

  • Able to perform a supported glide at least 3 feet in shallow water

  • Not yet able to front or back float efficiently to support independent swim, but comfortable in each when supported

Goldfish 1 Skills

  • Reinforce foundational swim skills (scooping, kicking, floating)

  • Improve breath control by working towards 2-3 second submersions with nose bubbles

  • Refine technique/body position in kicking, glides, nose bubbles, and back floating

GOLDFISH

2

This level is designed for swimmers who are mostly independent in shallow water (they should be able to make forward progress at least a few feet). Here we will refine their swim into a closer approximation of a legal freestyle stroke.

Goldfish 2s are...

  • This level is designed for swimmers who are mostly independent in shallow water (they should be able to make forward progress at least a few feet). Here we will refine their swim into a closer approximation of a legal freestyle stroke.

Goldfish 2 Skills

  • Refine their foundational swim skills (kicking, scooping, floating)

  • Transition fully into optimal technique/body position for kicking and glides

  • Refine breath control/ nose bubbles when submerged (working toward 3-5 second submersion)

  • Be introduced to Freestyle fundamentals to improve independent swim

  • Be introduced to elementary backstroke

What Success Looks Like

Swimmers gain confidence moving independently through the water and demonstrate stronger foundational skills.

What's Next?

Once swimmers demonstrate mastery of Goldfish skills , they may progress to learning more intermediate swim skills + refining stroke mechanics at the Piranha level.
